The flight left Trinidad on time and arrived in Miami, Florida at 12:15pm. It was pretty much uneventful and relaxed. The students collected themselves for a few moments then met for a debriefing session concerning the tour activities.
While leaving Trinidad & Tobago, we looked down with a bird’s eye view and recognised the magnitude of the world beyond our island's physical boundaries. Similarly, visiting a foreign country broadens our perspective as we gain the capacity to look at things from a global perspective.
An interesting observation made by students was that almost everyone that we came into contact with spoke more than one language fluently. This multi-lingual ability was found across professions ranging from hotel management to fast-food attendant. The value of a second language was understood first hand as Spanish was almost the default mode of communication.
